Kyle J. Glenn (he/him) is a singer-songwriter from Portland, Oregon, who has been crafting and performing his own songs since 2014. Blending folk rock, alt-country, and singer-songwriter traditions, Kyle’s music is deeply story-driven, inspired by artists like Gillian Welch, John Prine, The Mountain Goats, and Big Thief.
His latest release, “Everywhere is Close to Somewhere Else”, serves as a reflection of Kyle’s decade-long search for "home." The album captures his journey from leaving Portland at 25 for San Francisco to multiple open-ended traverses across the U.S., and is a chronicle of the songs he wrote during those explorations. Some tracks, like “Running Myself Down,” date back to 2013, while others, such as “October 2023,” were created in the final months before completing the album. Initially considering the title *Geographies*, Kyle ultimately chose *Everywhere is Close to Somewhere Else*, symbolizing the realization that "home" is a state of mind rather than a physical place.
Kyle's single, "Parking Lot," was featured on Kink FM 102's Homegrown Discovery, and he has played venues across the U.S., Spain, and Portugal. Notable performances include The Ruins in Hood River, Trout Lake Hall in Washington, and the Tumbleweed Music Festival. He has also opened for artists like Tony Furtado, The Sam Chase & the Untraditional, Boot Juice, Jeremy Pinnel, and David Quinn.
After returning to Portland in October 2023, Kyle reconnected with the city’s vibrant musical community and is assembling a band to bring his latest album to the stage. Outside of music, Kyle enjoys climbing, running, photography, block printing, and filmmaking.
